OFF 5th will anchor El Paseo Square, taking 25,000 square feet of a building currently under construction on the south side of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, said Sharon Carmichael, senior vice president of Cushman & Wakefield, who handles the leasing for that center.
It will be the Coachella Valley’s first Saks OFF 5th store, with the nearest at the Desert Hills Premium Outlets in Cabazon.
OFF 5th is expected to open this fall, Carmichael said.
Also coming to El Paseo Square, situated between Highway 111 and El Paseo to the north and south and Lupine Lane and San Pablo Avenue to the west and east, are Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza, Jamba Juice, The Habit Burger Grill and Orangetheory fitness – all expected to open between April and June in buildings currently under construction, Carmichael said.
“It’s a very exciting project and the idea is to create a community gathering place,” she said of El Paseo Square.
“This is absolutely right on trend and on point with what is needed in the area,” said Carmichael, a Palm Desert resident with 33 years of experience as a retail developer.
“We’re looking to bring new things to the valley; more exciting choices,” Carmichael said. “It’s on trend with what everyone is asking for in this community and very much needed.”
City officials agree, saying the project fits well with its vision for that portion of Highway 111 – which it considers its downtown – in the General Plan update.
